The C&MA

Beginnings

The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA)
denomination began in 1887. Prior to this time, it was a non-denominational
missions society. This group of believers from different
backgrounds and denominations had one thing in common: a deep desire
for missions. From these roots grew The C&MA, with its emphasis on missions
and deeper spiritual life.
The C&MA was founded by A. B. Simpson
(bottom left in banner).
During his faith journey, he had four distinct personal and spiritual
experiences of Jesus Christ. Over time, these four ways that a person can
come to know and experience Christ became known as the
Fourfold Gospel.
